Day One….

The hardest part is always turning the idea into action. So here I am, sipping coffee, listening to the news, and waking up enough to do some morning stretching and core work on my yoga mat and exercise ball.

I sit here considering taking tennies to work with me to take a walk on my breaks as my husband walks through talking about the weather folks calling for rain today. Well there goes that idea.

Once my floor mat tiles show up and I get those laid down, I’ll be able to just go downstairs in the morning and do my morning routine. So I’ll spend today working on a routine plan.

I downloaded Daily Burn so I’ll browse through that to find some ideas and put a plan together. I want to incorporate core work, yoga, meditation and boxing into a new lifestyle. The idea is – I need to get healthy. No one can do it for me. And I’m tired of my own excuses.

Time to start the day…. Focus on your goals and dont let anyone discourage you or derail you.

Every journey must have a beginning…

…I’ve taken many journeys before. This is a new journey and it begins now. Today. Here.

Where I got the idea…

My husband works in residential maintenance. When people move out they leave a lot behind. This past week – the first week of June 2019 – he reached out during the work day with a simple text image – a heavy bag on a dolly.. His question was simple. “Want this?” I didn’t hesitate to reply with “Hell yes!”

That evening we discussed where to put it and what we wanted to do. Within half an hour we had it all planned out. Here it is, Sunday night and everything is coming together. The heavy bag is up. The floor mats are on order. Exercise balls, yoga mat, and some hand weights all in place and our basement is now a home gym.

We are going to be adding a bench and more free weights and I want to get a fold up rowing machine of some kind.

I have downloaded some Kickboxing and Yoga apps to help me as I get started. My mottos that will keep me going are #embracethesuck and #noexcuses. I need to be more active. I have no excuses now.

I plan on using this blog as a journal of my journey with this. Be warned, I’m going to be complete honest and unbiased and I will not filter myself. Not everyone is walking the same journey, so if this doesn’t sit well with you – then find another journey to follow or start your own.

If you’re in a place where you need a lifestyle change, know two things:

1)You only have control over you – no one else. And no one else controls you – only you do.

2) No day but today. A year from now you will wish you had started today so just get up and do it. No more excuses. No one is watching, no one cares and if they do so what. Just do it.
